A New Chapter in London

Lena Dunham, known for her groundbreaking show Girls, found love in an unexpected place after moving to London. In 2021, she met Luis Felber on a blind date set up by friends. The couple quickly developed a strong connection and eventually married. Their story is one of serendipity and collaboration, with both sharing creative endeavors that have shaped their lives together.

A Life Transformed

Dunham wasn’t planning on falling in love when she relocated to London, but fate had other plans. After the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to "break up with New York" and embrace a new chapter in the UK. She described how time felt different in London, where years passed like days. This change in pace helped her realize that London was now her home. She even jokes about adapting to local customs, such as calling seltzer "sparkling water" and settling for bagels that taste like caulk.

Dunham’s new Netflix series, Too Much, is inspired by her own experiences. It follows a woman who moves to London after a breakup and finds love in an unexpected place. The show stars Meg Stalter and Will Sharpe, and it showcases the couple's creative partnership.

The Man Behind the Music

Luis Felber, known by his stage name Attawalpa, has a rich cultural background. Born in Winchester, England, in 1986, he grew up in England, Chile, and Peru before moving back to the U.K. at age seven. His Peruvian heritage plays a significant role in his life and music. He speaks Spanish fluently and enjoys Peruvian cuisine, which he describes as "the bomb."

Felber started playing guitar as a child, learning from MTV. He later joined various bands before going solo under the moniker Attawalpa. He prefers a DIY approach, working with independent directors and artists. His debut album, Presence, was released in October 2022, recorded between London and New York City.

The name Attawalpa is a tribute to his Peruvian roots. It refers to the last Incan emperor, and Felber chose it for its cultural significance. "I wanted a name that is powerful to me," he said. "It connects me to my heritage and represents a part of my identity."

A Whirlwind Romance

The couple met on a blind date, and their relationship blossomed quickly. According to Felber, they talked nonstop for eight hours during their first meeting. "I walked into that situation very myself," he said. "Lena liked that, and she's the same."

Felber considers Dunham his soulmate. "When you know, you know," he told the New York Times. He also called her his best friend, highlighting the instant connection they felt. "Neither of us were expecting that," he added.

Despite his admiration for Dunham’s work, Felber has never watched Girls. "Looking back is a thing we shouldn't really do too much," he explained. However, his mother and sister are fans of the show.

A Proposal and a Wedding

Their romance took a serious turn when Felber proposed to Dunham after a hospital visit. He used a family heirloom, an Incan Peruvian ring from the early 1700s, as a symbol of their bond. "I don't ever want you to go through that on your own again," he told her. The proposal came just a month after they met, and the couple tied the knot in a small ceremony in London in 2021.

They celebrated their wedding at Union Club, a members-only space in London. Approximately 60 guests attended, including Taylor Swift. The groom wore Bode, while the bride chose Christopher Kane for her wedding dress.

A Creative Partnership

Dunham and Felber have always worked well together. They collaborated on the music video for "Tucked In Tight" and the film Sharp Stick. Most recently, they co-wrote and co-produced Too Much, a fictionalized account of Dunham’s move to London and their relationship.

"I love being directed by her," Felber said. "It's like our relationship; it just sort of flows. We don't have any arguments. She's obviously very good at what she does."

Their partnership continues to thrive, blending creativity, love, and shared experiences in a way that reflects their unique journey.
