Oasis Reunites After 16 Years: Gallagher Brothers Take the Stage Again

A Historic Reunion: Oasis Fans Celebrate the Gallagher Brothers' Triumphant Return in Cardiff
Tens of thousands of devoted Oasis fans gathered in Cardiff for a momentous occasion—the first live performance by the Gallagher brothers in over 16 years. The long-awaited reunion took place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, marking the beginning of what promises to be a historic tour.
The event kicked off promptly at 8:15 PM following an electrifying video montage that played on the stadium's screens. The footage featured newspaper headlines and social media speculation about the possibility of an Oasis comeback, culminating in the declaration, “This is happening.” As anticipation reached a fever pitch, Liam and Noel Gallagher made their grand entrance, launching into the iconic track "Hello" before segueing into "Acquiesce."
Wearing his signature parka jacket, Liam greeted the crowd with a heartfelt, “Hello people, it's been too long,” setting the tone for a night filled with nostalgia and musical brilliance. The band quickly followed up with "Some Might Say," another standout from their critically acclaimed album What's the Story) Morning Glory?.
Oasis had been together for nearly two decades before their dramatic split in 2009, which occurred after a backstage altercation at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. For many younger fans, this concert was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the Britpop legends perform hits like "Don’t Look Back in Anger," "Champagne Supernova," and "Live Forever" live on stage.
Excitement began building early in the day as gates opened at 5 PM. Supporting acts Cast and former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft set the stage for the main event. Along St Mary’s Street, one of Cardiff’s busiest thoroughfares, fans clad in bucket hats, parkas, and Oasis merchandise created a sea of color and energy.
One poignant moment came during the final bars of "Live Forever," when a tribute to Diogo Jota, a Liverpool footballer who tragically died in a car accident days earlier, was displayed on the screen. The crowd responded with cheers and applause, honoring both the late athlete and the enduring legacy of Oasis.
Among the attendees were Lachlan Weekes and Jayden Helm, lifelong fans who traveled from Sydney, Australia, to be part of this historic night. Their journey included over a day of travel, but they considered it more than worth it. The pair even embarked on a personal Oasis pilgrimage, visiting Manchester, where the band formed in 1991, and stopping by Heaton Park.
For others, like Lawrence Evans from Swansea, Oasis has had a profound impact on their lives. Lawrence credits the band with inspiring him to pursue music and songwriting. His son Jimmy expressed the significance of attending the concert in Wales, noting it was his first time seeing Oasis while his father had lost count of how many times he’d seen them.
Meanwhile, Glenn Moss, an avid fan from Essex, used the reunion as an opportunity to launch his career as a Liam Gallagher impersonator. His uncanny resemblance to the singer led to multiple photo requests upon arrival in Cardiff.
The concert marked the start of the Oasis Live '25 tour, which includes stops across the UK and Ireland, including Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, and Dublin’s Croke Park. International dates will follow, taking the band to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia, and North America.
As the Gallagher brothers continue their journey back into the spotlight, fans around the world eagerly await the next chapter in the storied history of Oasis.
