Cameron Smith Enters Two-Year Winless Streak

When LIV Golf was getting off the ground, the renegade league made the controversial decision to poach players. The league famously offered some of the best players in the world some very generous contracts. Certain contracts are suspected to be worth over $100 million, a policy that will be changing in the near future. This led to LIV getting some players like Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau. Another player LIV acquired was former major winner Cameron Smith. A player who hasn’t had a win in two years, but not without trying.

Cameron Smith’s Record

After turning pro in 2013, Cameron Smith gained six PGA victories. This includes the Open Championship in 2022, a major tournament he has under his belt. Smith also had 3 international wins along with that. Not the best player, but he has never done too bad for himself. All those wins were spread out between 2016 and 2022, with at least one win per season. Not too shabby at all, it’s enough to get a decent record with field sizes of over one hundred fifty players on a normal week. This record would change just one year after joining LIV Golf in 2023.

During LIV Golf

During Smith’s first year on LIV Golf, he finished first in a couple of events , including London and Bedminster. All while being regularly in the top thirty. After those two events, the best he has gotten is T2 in three events through 2024. Still an accomplishment to get that far in a league that is filled to the brim with all-star players. Smith currently has a loss streak of two years going. Most recently, in the LIV Dallas event , he finished T13.

Currently, Smith has a cut streak in the majors. Missing the cut at all three majors that have happened in 2025. Originally, Smith was looking like he was going to be one of the faces of LIV. Being a part of the league’s star lineup. With this long streak going, he stands to be at risk of being a forgotten player, despite victory often being just out of reach. An unfortunate outcome to have, especially when he is right there. LIV clearly sees some value in Smith, which is why they brought him on in the first place. He makes it pretty high in these events, even with the missed cuts at the majors accounted for.

Will Smith Make A Comeback?

Cameron Smith is still young, but he still has over ten years’ worth of experience on the pro circuit. It is still very much possible for him to turn his career around at a moment’s notice. This two-year slump can end. He did win a major event after all, right before joining LIV. He stands at #26 on LIV Golf, and he does get second in these events. With only a few exceptions, Smith is always in the top thirty. Smith is also more often than not in the top ten. He just needs to get out of this slump, and Smith will be back on track. Until then, Cameron Smith’s record, although not that bad, is still in need of improvement.
