Which 2024-25 boys' team deserves recognition in this week's Champion Chevrolet Athlete of the Week poll?
These are the top team performances for Northern Nevada high school boys' athletics for the 2024-25 school year. Vote in this week's poll below
Galena cross country: The Grizzlies took second at the 5A state tournament on Nov. 2, the top finish for a Northern Nevada team, with Hunter Steele, David Coisson, Cayden Mosby and Ayden Mosby each finishing in the top 20 in the 5K.

Tahoe-Truckee cross country: Truckee won the 3A state meet on Nov. 2, with Kiefer Willcox winning the 5K; other top-20 finishers included Keb Schnurrenberger, Ty Hammond, Cody Johnson and Ethan Scholnick.
North Tahoe cross country: North Tahoe won the 1A team title on Nov. 2 with 19 points, with Elio0 Adriani, Luka Karnicks and Max Avril finishing second, third and fourth overall.
Bishop Manogue football: The Miners won the 5A-II state title , defeating Reno 48-26 on Oct. 18 before scoring three touchdowns in the span of 21 seconds to defeat Faith Lutheran 35-14 in the state championship game on Nov. 24.
Galena football: The Grizzlies won the 5A-III title, wrapping up their northern schedule with seven straight wins , before falling to Centennial , 24-15, in the state championship.
Truckee football: The Wolverines narrowly lost, 34-30, in the state 3A title game but won the 3A-North and completed a 34-game win streak. They outscored opponents 462-109 last fall.
Pershing County football: The Mustangs rolled to the state 2A title with a 26-6 win over Incline on Nov. 23 after eliminating Lincoln County, 51-7, and West Wendover, 59-6.
Eureka football: Eureka won the 1A North title and knocked out Pyramid Lake 32-8 in the state quarterfinals on Nov. 8 before falling in their state semifinal game.
Hug soccer: The Hawks defeated Wooster 2-1 in overtime to win the 5A-North before falling to Coronado in the state title game.
South Tahoe soccer: South Tahoe defeated North Tahoe, 3-0, in the 3A-North title game, then rolled to the state title with a 6-0 win over Del Sol and a 2-1 victory over SLAM Nevada.
Spanish Springs tennis: The Cougars won the 4A-North title and eliminated Foothill in the state tournament before falling in the championship to The Meadows.
South Tahoe tennis: The Vikings won the 3A state title over Boulder City, with Brody Wallisch and Ralston Pierce taking the boys doubles title.
Spanish Springs basketball: The Cougars won 20 in a row to take the 4A-North title and won the school's first-ever state tournament game in boys basketball before falling in the title game to defending champion Sierra Vista.
Fernley basketball: The Vaqueros won the 3A-North and eliminated Democracy Prep in the state semifinals before falling to Mater East in the 3A state title game.
Incline basketball: The Highlanders won the 2A-North title before rolling through the state playoffs, defeating Needles 55-50 on Feb. 22 for the championship.
Smith Valley basketball: The Bulldogs, the 1A-West top seed, rolled through the state playoffs with a 74-31 win over Owyhee and 47-33 over Pahraganat Valley before a nail-biting 51-49 win over Virginia City on Feb. 22 to win the state title.
Bishop Manogue skiing: Manogue won the Northern Nevada Ski Racing League on Feb. 18 to take the state title.
Spanish Springs wrestling: Spanish Springs wrapped up a record-breaking 19-year win streak in league duals and finished second in the state 5A wrestling tournament, the top finish for a northern team. Cormac Anderson won the 285-pound weight class.
Lowry wrestling: The Buckaroos took second overall, the top finish among northern teams, in the state 3A wrestling tournament on Feb. 8. Pete Bengochea and Jhett Harber each won their weight classes.
White Pine wrestling: The Bobcats narrowly won the 2A state title over Pershing County on Feb. 8, with Yvo Guevarra, Maddox Sedlacek, Jacob Hall and Bryant O'Flaherty each winning their weight classes.
Bishop Manogue baseball: The Miners knocked off Reno, 11-1, in the 5A-North title game on May 10. Both teams advanced to the state tournament.
Reno baseball: Fighting out of the elimination bracket, Reno eliminated Bishop Manogue and Faith Lutheran before losing a 3-2 extra-inning thriller to Basic in the state 5A title game on May 17.
Truckee baseball: Truckee, the second seed from the North, knocked out The Meadows, southern Nevada's top seed, twice in the span of three days to win the state 3A baseball title on May 17.
Bishop Manogue golf: The Miners had the fourth-best finish at state, the best performance by a team from the North, at the 5A state championship. Luke Swanson finished in a three-way tie for seventh in the individual competition; Jake Gladys and Ethan Cua also landed in the top 20.
Elko golf: Elko took the state 3A championship with a 327-317--644; Kaleb Nielson and Boden Goicoechea finished first-second, with Jack Marma finishing in a fourth-place tie in the individual competition.
North Tahoe golf: The Lakers won the state 2A title with a 348-341--689 to win by 14 strokes over Incline. Nolan Smith took the individual title by nine strokes with a 78-76--154; Ty Whisler and Ian Bower also finished in the top 10.
Reed swimming and diving: Hunter Dawson broke the state 50-meter freestyle record at the 5A state meet on May 19, and Reed finished second overall, the top posting for a northern school.
Galena track and field: Galena finished third at state , the best showing for a team from the North, at the state 5A track meet.
