I Cracked the Code on Viral Nutella Pancakes: My Weekend Breakfast Obsession!

It's easy to get in a breakfast rut: eggs , toast, cereal , repeat. So when I saw a video by content creator Honeysuckle ( @dzunglewis ) showing how to make Nutella-stuffed pancakes , I knew I had to give them a try.

It’s the kind of breakfast that feels like a treat but is secretly easy to make. You’re basically freezing little discs of Nutella and sandwiching them between layers of pancake batter. That’s it. Add heat and a spatula, and you’ve got a stack of warm, golden pancakes with a melty chocolatety center. My kids went nuts for these and I admit to eating mine with my hands.

How to Make Nutella-Stuffed Pancakes

The basic idea is brilliant in its simplicity. First, you dollop spoonfuls of Nutella onto a piece of wax paper or parchment paper, spread them into small, flat discs, then freeze them until solid. While the content creator shared a full pancake batter recipe in her video, I stuck with my go-to gluten-free pancake batter and had zero issues. The method works with any batter you love, so use what you like.

Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat. Pour a small amount of pancake batter onto the pan, just enough to form the base of your pancake. Quickly top it with one of your frozen Nutella discs (keep them in the freezer until you need them).

Pour a bit more batter over the top, sealing the Nutella inside. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, then flip carefully and cook the other side.

This simple trick gives you a soft, fluffy pancake with a molten chocolate-hazelnut center that oozes slightly when you cut into it.

Nutella-Stuffed Pancake Tips and Tricks

This recipe is super simple, but I did pick up a few tips and tricks after making a small mess in my kitchen. Here’s what I learned along the way.

1. Chill out.

Keep the Nutella frozen until the very last second. If it sits out too long, it softens, sticks to the paper and turns into a chocolate smear instead of a disc. This was my first mistake.

2. Keep your eyes on the size

Don’t make your pancakes too big. My first ones were oversized, and flipping them with the gooey center was tricky. The Nutella wanted to escape out the side, and while it was still delicious, it was messy. Stick with silver-dollar-sized pancakes for the easiest handling.

3. Skip the syrup.

My kids inhaled these pancakes straight off the plate, no syrup needed. The Nutella adds enough sweetness and richness that you don’t need any extras. In fact, they might not even notice the syrup is missing.

4. Maybe skip the fork, too.

I picked mine up and ate it like a breakfast sandwich. Yes, some Nutella drizzled out the side and got on my fingers, but honestly? Totally worth it!

Warm pancakes plus melty Nutella is one of the most satisfying combos out there, and these were every bit as good as they looked online, plus they were so simple to make. I'll definitely be making these again very soon.
