Fourth of July in Greenwich: Explore Historical Walking Tours and Neighborhood Highlights

Greenwich
Greenwich is celebrating Independence Day with a flag raising, live music and cake at an event at the back of Town Hall.
The celebration will begin at 9 a.m. on July 4. First Selectman Fred Camillo, in his weekly newsletter, said the original style American flag will be raised, along with Greenwich Scouts parading the flags of the 13 colonies.
"We will salute patriots from Greenwich who served the cause of the American Revolution, portions of the Declaration of Independence will be read, Good Citizenship awards will be handed out and lots more," Camillo wrote.
The Sound Beach Community Band will play live, patriotic music. A birthday cake in the shape of an American flag will be served inside the Town Hall after the ceremony.

In collaboration with Untapped New York, the Greenwich Historical Society is presenting an interactive art installation and exhibition called "Re-Framing 95," which explores how Interstate 95 has affected Cos Cob's waterfront, the Bush-Holley House and the Greenwich Community.
The art installation was created in collaboration with Untapped New York and artist Aaron Asis. It "features floating large-scale gold frames positioned around the historical society’s campus and the Bush-Holley House," according to an announcement.
"Each frame spotlights a view reshaped by I-95, encouraging visitors to reflect on how infrastructure intersects with history and community," the announcement said.
"This exhibition memorializes how the impressionist artists might have included I-95 had it existed during their time — and showcases how artists see it today," said Debra Mecky, executive director and chief executive officer of the Greenwich Historical Society, in a statement.
The exhibit will run through June 30. There will also be a guided walking tour with Justin Rivers, Untapped New York's chief experience officer, on Saturday. The four tours will be offered at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The tours are free for Historical Society members and $15 for non-members. Reservations can be made at greenwichhistory.org.
