CBS Sports Names College Football's Top Dynamic Duos for 2025 Season

With the 2025 college football season still more than two months away from kicking off, it remains Ranking Season and CBS Sports once again provided a unique list of the top “dynamic duos” in college football this upcoming season.

As is the case with the original “Dynamic Duo” — DC’s Batman and Robin — CBS Sports provided an electric Top 5 list of the best one-two punches in the sport ahead of the 2025 season. And anyone that watched Penn State ‘s backfield tandem of Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton run over teams in last season’s College Football Playoff , it’s no surprise which dynamic duo leads CBS Sports’ list.

While there are multiple position-specific pairings in this list, CBS Sports couldn’t overlook the complimentary impact players at different positions can have on one another, including when it comes to the quarterback-receiver combination. But while there will be plenty of elite QB-WR tandems across college football in 2025, CBS Sports only included one in its Top 5.

Check out CBS Sports’ Top 5 list of college football’s best dynamic duos for the 2025 season :

1. Penn State RBs Kaytron Allen, Nick Singleton

As mentined above, college football’s unquestioned top dynamic duo is the Nittany Lions’ running back tandem that included two 1,000-yard rushers in 2024.

Allen led the way with 220 carries for 1,108 yards and eight rushing scores, while Singleton was the homerun threat with 72 carries for 1,099 yards and a team-high 12 touchdowns on the ground. The pair also added seven receiving scores between them, providing senior QB Drew Allar multiple big-play options as Penn State looks primed to make a championship run this season.

2. Texas LB Anthony Hill, EDGE Colin Simmons

Offense isn’t everything, and Texas’ own defensive dynamic duo will undoubtedly cause chaos and sleepless nights for opposing offenses after earning All-American status last season.

Hill was a force to be reckoned with in 2024, leading the SEC with 16.5 tackles for loss, while the true freshman Simmons was third with 14 TFL. Hill and Simmons also combined for 17 sacks, including a team-high nine for Simmons. Given Simmons’ youth, it’s safe to expect even more defensive production from the pass-rushing pair in 2025, which should help make things easier for new Texas QB1 Arch Manning .

3. Ohio State WRs Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate

No true freshman had a bigger impact on his team than Smith did last season, making his case as college football’s No. 1 receiver after leading the Big Ten with 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns as a rookie.

But this isn’t a one-man show with the veteran Tate returning after ranking third on the team with 733 yards and four touchdowns on 52 receptions in 2024. With Smith and Tate as options, whoever wins Ohio State’s starting QB competition will have plenty to work with as the reigning national champion Buckeyes seek to run it back in 2025.

4. Clemson DLs T.J. Parker, Peter Woods

It all starts upfront along the Clemson defense, which returns an array of elite talent for new defensive coordinator Tom Allen to take to even greater heights in 2025.

Parker certainly elevated his game last season, leading the Tigers with an ACC-best six forced fumbles, 19.5 tackles for loss — which ranked second in the ACC — and 11 sacks. Meanwhile, the 315-pound veteran Woods was a beast in the middle of Clemson’s defensive line and is already getting strong Top 5 NFL Draft buzz.

5. Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt, WR Jordyn Tyson

Arguably one of the best QB-WR combos in 2024, Leavitt and Tyson provided plenty of fireworks while leading the Sun Devils to a Big 12 championship and CFP appearance in their first season in the league.

Despite suffering a season-ending collarbone injury before the postseason, Tyson ranked fifth in the Big 12 with 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns on 75 receptions last season, while Leavitt flashed great potential after throwing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns on 61.7-percent passing in 2024. As long as both remain healthy, Arizona State has the Batman and Robin to lead to another Big 12 title in 2025.

Honorable Mention

Clemson WRs Antonio Williams , Bryant Wesco Jr.

While Park and Woods will hold it down defensively, Clemson’s receiver pair of Williams and Wesco provide veteran QB Cade Klubnik plenty of options offensively after combining for 1,612 yards and 16 TDs in 2024. The reigning ACC champions will no doubt rely on that pass-catching tandem even more in 2025.

Alabama WRs Ryan Williams , Germie Bernard

While not as dominant as Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Williams’ impact as true freshman can’t be overlooked after leading the Crimson Tide with 865 yards and eight scores last season. But Bernard, the former Washington transfer, wasn’t far behind with 794 yards and a team-high 50 receptions in 2024.

Auburn WRs Cam Coleman , Eric Singleton Jr.

Another elite true freshman last season, Cam Coleman ranked second on the Tigers with 598 yards and eight TDs on 37 receptions in 2024, despite little to work with at quarterback. Coleman will have much more help in 2025 after the Tigers added Singleton ( Georgia Tech ) and former Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold out off the portal.
