Vienna Symphony to Unleash K-Pop Magic in 2025 Concert

SEOUL, May 16 (Yonhap) — The Vienna Symphony Orchestra, among the leading orchestras globally for classical music, plans to host a performance centered around K-pop in the coming year.

On Friday, SM Entertainment reported that the "Vienna Symphony Orchestra X K-pop" concert will take place on February 16, 2025, at the renowned Konzerthaus in Vienna, Austria. This event will be co-organized with SM Classics, which is the classical and jazz imprint of SM Entertainment.

The concert will showcase orchestral and jazz renditions of famous K-pop tracks from SM Entertainment’s repertoire, providing a new take on the style. This past year, SM Classics marked SM’s 30th anniversary through a collaboration with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra for a K-pop symphony performance.

Established in 1900, the Vienna Symphony plans to present a fresh interpretation of K-pop to European classical music enthusiasts. This performance will be included as a distinctive initiative within the orchestra’s official 2025/26 season schedule.

This represents an unparalleled effort to introduce K-pop to the European classical music scene through a stand-alone concert format," stated SM Entertainment. "This initiative aims to broaden the emotional reach of K-pop among international viewers by crossing conventional genre lines.
