USPS Honors 250 Years of Military Service with New Forever Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service is commemorating the three original divisions. of the military By issuing special 250th anniversary stamps.

The special edition stamps Will have the emblem of either the Army, Marine Corps, or Navy affixed to them.

Beneath each seal, the stamps will feature these inscriptions: “250 Years of Service,” “Since 1775,” and “Forever/USA.”

"As we celebrate this important landmark, we recognize their bravery, dedication, and crucial part in protecting the liberties we cherish," stated Jeffery Adams, the vice president of corporate communications at USPS.

Adams states that the postal service aims to pay tribute to the men and women serving in the military.

Adams stated at the unveiling that these stamps stand as a strong testament to the lasting impact and steadfast commitment of both men and women who have constructed and maintained the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps over the last 250 years.

Members from different military divisions were present at the ceremony as well.

Army Lieutenant General Gregory J. Brady, Army inspector general, indicated that the stamps would influence soldier spirits.

The significant observance today mustn’t conclude without acknowledging how much of a moral uplift the Postal Service has provided for our armed forces," he stated. "I have witnessed personally as generations of service members stationed abroad, during deployments—believe me...they’ve always valued those two words when their first sergeant arrives with that large sack.

Rear Admiral Michael Boyle, who leads the Navy staff, pointed out that correspondence always reached the service members sailing the oceans.

"You have well and faithfully delivered mail to ships on the far side of the world, always finding a way to keep people connected. No matter the distance. Letters and care packages from friends and family delivered to our deployed sailors at sea make an immense difference," Boyle said.

Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Paul J. Rock Jr., head of the Marine Corps Staff discussed how the robust "bond" between the USPS and the military persists to this day.

"I still have letters that my wife wrote me when I was a young first lieutenant overseas on my first shipboard deployment, and I cherish the pictures that came through the mail from my children the first time I went to war — precious memories made possible by the United States Postal Service," Rock said.

The stamps will be issued in sheets of 20 and will consistently maintain the denomination equivalent to a standard First-Class Mail 1-ounce stamp, irrespective of any changes in the prevailing First-Class postage rates.

The USPS also offers other commemorative Forever $0.73 stamps for purchase. featuring Betty White, Dungeons and Dragons, Hank Aaron, and additional topics.

A sheet of 20 stamps with one of the military seals will cost $14.60.
