US Warns China: No Tolerance for University Exploitation and Research Theft

By Daphne Psaledakis
WASHINGTON (The News Pulse) – The United States refuses to accept the exploitation of American colleges and universities by the Chinese Communist Party or the pilfering of U.S. research and intellectual assets, according to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce on Thursday.
During a press briefing at the State Department, Bruce chose not to disclose the specific number of Chinese students who might be impacted by the recently unveiled initiative to "aggressively" cancel certain visas. However, he stated that authorities will closely examine individuals deemed as potential threats or issues to national security.
She chose not to specify how individuals posing a risk would be identified.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while unveiling the intensified measures, stated that they would focus on students who have ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or are pursuing studies in crucial areas.
"When it comes to ensuring the safety of America, I can additionally state that the United States will not condone the CCP’s misuse of American educational institutions or the pilfering of U.S. academic and technological intellectual property to bolster its armed forces, carry out espionage activities, or silence dissenters,"Bruce stated.
Following the directive from the Trump administration instructing U.S. embassies worldwide to halt processing new appointments for student and exchange visitor visas, an announcement was made regarding Chinese students' visas.
When asked about when appointments would be available again, Bruce didn’t provide an answer but suggested that applicants keep monitoring the U.S. visa system for updated appointment slots.
