Unveiled: New Mural Project Set to Transform Appley Seafront
Fourteen new pieces of art are scheduled to revamp Appley seafront.
The designs for the mural initiative titled "Sheltered: Art, Ecology and Belonging on the Appley Coast" were presented during Ryde's yearly town gathering on April 30.
The initiative is a joint effort involving local artists Alice Malia and Laura Hathaway, supported financially by Ryve Town Council, the Isle of Wight Council, and Arts Council England.
The art pieces will breathe new life into the overlooked shelters by the seaside, honouring the varied aquatic creatures native to the region.

These refuges will transform into educational tools, enhancing understanding about the nearby sea life environment.
The species shown were chosen with assistance from local marine biologist and underwater photographer Theo Vickers.
Alice said: "It’s fantastic to have this opportunity to highlight these fascinating local marine species through art, and contribute to regeneration of this much loved public space."
Laura said, "I'm thrilled at the prospect of bringing our concepts to fruition and turning these shelters into areas where people will be eager to relax, appreciate their surroundings, and linger—areas that promote creativity, honour this unique coastal section, and showcase the fantastic marine life sustained here."
