Toddler in Critical Condition After Being Rescued From Backyard Pool

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — An East Valley toddler is fighting for his life after being pulled from a backyard pool Monday evening.

Chandler police responded to a drowning at a home near Chandler Heights and Cooper roads before 7 p.m. When authorities arrived, they found a 3-year-old boy who was pulled from a backyard pool and needed medical attention.

When they got there, officers began performing CPR until the paramedics showed up. According to fire authorities, the child was quickly taken to Chandler Regional Hospital in serious condition. Due to the severity of his wounds, he was subsequently airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
