Teen Charged After Fatal Crash Kills Passenger in Montgomery County

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teen has been accused of involvement in a deadly accident in Montgomery County that occurred the previous month.

The Pennsylvania State Police report that on April 24, Logan Freed, who is 18 years old from Telford, was traveling southbound at a high velocity on White’s Mill Road in Salford Township when he struck something located somewhere between Reeler and Badman roads, leading to his vehicle flipping over.

A 15-year-old male from Telford was also inside the vehicle. According to police statements, he did not have his seatbelt fastened and was thrown out of the car as a result of the collision.

As per investigators, Freed departed from the site without alerting the authorities about the accident. A system-generated notification from the Kia he was operating informed the officials about the collision and where it occurred.

The 15-year-old died.

On Friday, Freed faced charges for various offenses such as vehicular manslaughter, careless operation of a vehicle, failing to halt or provide assistance, along with additional related accusations.

On Monday morning, he surrendered to the State Police.
