Taylor Swift Subpoenaed in High-Profile Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni Legal Battle

Taylor Swift has been named as a witness in the legal dispute involving her acquaintance, Blake Lively, and Justin Baldoni, who directs and also stars alongside Lively in the film "It Ends with Us."
The lawsuit hinges on the underlying dispute between the two actors during the making of the movie, set for release in 2024.
A representative for Taylor Swift characterized the action as "generating tabloid sensationalism."
Taylor Swift has never stepped onto the set of this movie; she wasn’t part of any casting processes or creative decision-making. She didn’t compose music for the film, hasn’t viewed an edited version, nor provided any feedback on it.
She didn't catch 'It Ends With Us' until several weeks following its launch, and she spent 2023 and 2024 touring globally as the lead artist of the largest concert tour ever recorded.
In December 2024, Lively pursued legal measures against Baldoni, charging him with sexual harassment as well as disruptive and inappropriate conduct on the set.
Baldoni refuted the allegations and in January 2025, filed a counterclaim accusing Lively, her spouse, actor Ryan Reynolds, along with their public relations staff of defamation and extortion.
"As stated in the document acquired by People magazine, the link Taylor had to this movie involved allowing the usage of just one track, 'My Tears Ricochet,' " the spokesperson went on to say.
As her contribution was merely licensing a song for the movie, like 19 other musicians did, this legal order aims to leverage Taylor Swift’s name to generate public attention through sensational media headlines rather than concentrating on the actual details of the matter at hand.
Swift has been friends with Lively and her spouse Ryan Reynolds for a long time.
The court case, Lively v Wayfarer Studios et al, is set for March 2026.
