Sen. Katie Britt introduces MOMS Act ‘to provide more opportunities for mothers to succeed’

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - For Mother’s Day Sunday, Senator Katie Britt reintroduced her legislation Wednesday called the MOMS Act or the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act.
“While being a mom is the most rewarding experience, I think I can speak for most moms when I say that it’s a challenging one as well,” said Sen. Katie Britt.
There are Three primary sections of the bill .
The initial segment develops a resource site called "pregnancy.gov" aimed at expectant mothers, those who have recently given birth, and parents with young kids.
The latter section introduces a funding initiative aimed at nonprofit organizations to assist women throughout their pregnancy and following childbirth. Additionally, it proposes establishing another fund designed to acquire medical devices and technological resources in underprivileged regions specifically for prenatal and postnatal telehealth consultations.
The third section enables states to enforce child support requirements throughout the pregnancy.
Senator Britt states that she is advocating for this legislation to equip prospective mothers and advocate for the upcoming generation.
As mothers and fathers, everything we decide revolves around our children," she stated. "Our aim is for them to have abundant opportunities to excel and flourish. In my role as a Senator, I aspire to provide this same chance for kids throughout our country, from one end to the other.
Along with the MOMs Act, Britt has also presented the Legislation for Childcare Accessibility and Cost Efficiency , along with the Rural Obstetrics Readiness Act .
