Retired Teacher Gifts Home to University

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WFIE) — An ex-art instructor is giving his house to Oakland City University.
Alvin Johnson completed his studies at Oakland City University in 1973.
Now, he aims to repay the school that provided him with his initial opportunity by donating his house and land to them.
As a token of appreciation, the University bestowed upon Johnson an honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree.
Johnson anticipates that his contribution will help improve services for students, much like how he supported the community.
I've been teaching for, oh dear me, likely 35 years or so, and while I wouldn't rule out teaching again, I'd prefer being someone who simply engages with others much as we're doing now. Picture several people gathered together, could I spark your interest? Could I inspire you, you understand?
The university authorities indicate that Johnson will continue residing in the residence as they determine the next steps for the property.
