Raleigh County Law Enforcement and Assessors Set Up Shop in Ghent

GHENT, WV (WVNS) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department has broadened its presence across the county with a newly constructed facility.
The detachment based in Ghent for the Raleigh County Sheriff and Raleigh County Assessor’s Offices is working towards extending county services to the southern part of the area.
Located close to Ghent Elementary School on Flat Top Road, this project, which took many years to complete, resulted from a partnership between the sheriff’s office, clerk’s office, county commission, and school board. The aim was to bring governmental services nearer to residents in remote regions.
The Raleigh County Sheriff, Frank Priddy, informed 59News about this separation as part of his campaign pledge to increase the number of officers patrolling the area and enhance the visibility of local law enforcement.
This initiative in the Ghent community is fantastic," stated Priddy. "It will serve as a hub for an officer who will cover this region, allowing individuals to file reports, talk with a police officer, and seek guidance on various matters.
The Raleigh County Commission President, Greg Duckworth, states that this development primarily focuses on bolstering communities and ensuring accessibility.
The newly established assessor’s office branch will offer services related to taxes, businesses, and personal property, and is located at 2786 Flat Top Road.
