May typically signifies the beginning of the season as it ushers in the opening period. Playland Amusement Park in Rye .

However, It is still uncertain how much of the park will remain operational. , or when the entrances would be opened. On late Thursday, Westchester County announced that they intended to employ an external company to examine and fix all the attractions, as well as assist them in figuring out the most suitable plan of action for the season.

Playland remains "in a heartbreaking condition," according to Westchester officials.

Is the renowned Dragon Coaster expected to make noise in 2025? This remains uncertain as Playland has returned to county oversight by Westchester following the conclusion of a private company’s operating agreement.

Currently, there is a lawsuit in progress involving the previous operator who is demanding tens of millions of dollars from the county, alleging that the county did not meet the terms outlined in their agreement.

The county mentions that they are evaluating the situation for the upcoming summer season and will provide further updates once decisions have been finalized.

Deirdre Curran, who leads the advocacy organization Friends of Playland, stated that having some portion of Playland remaining is preferable to losing it entirely.

The difficulties are immense. The county states that the private entity left Playland in a "devastating condition."

Just three years ago, Westchester invested over $130 million essentially to reconstruct Playland, encompassing all structures and machinery. However, the county states that the private operator did not properly prepare certain rides for winter and also neglected to assemble others.

"It seems they have accumulated quite a list of maintenance problems, which might involve components needed for rides. This is indeed a challenging scenario. Keep in mind that over the past three years, there has not been sufficient funding allocated within the county’s budget to operate Playland," Curran explained.

If forced to speculate, Curran suggested that both the Playland beach and pool might reopen this summer, with possibly even the Kiddyland area, designed for younger children, also opening up.

Fans of Playland desire additional "fantastic experiences."

The park located beside the Long Island Sound boasts many supporters.

"Wonderful memories! So much enjoyment, it’s our favorite spot," stated Christiana Zucca, who lives in Dobbs Ferry.

Zucca mentioned she desires for her children to create memories here as well.

She expressed her hope that they would open.
