Padel Tennis Courts Set to Launch in Nottingham Warehouse
Proposals to convert an unused Nottingham warehouse into a new padel tennis facility have been greenlit by the council. Steve Summers of Advantage Padel Ltd submitted the application to Nottingham. City Council In March, to transform the old Almor Limited factory into a new sports complex.
Almor was a textile and heat treatment facility that ceased operations in 2022. On Wednesday (May 7), the municipal council gave approval for the development of new padel tennis courts.
Padel tennis is a racket game played within an enclosed court approximately one-third the size of a standard tennis court. The industrial area will be repurposed to include seven indoor padel tennis courts, one indoor paddle tennis court, a clubhouse cafe, a warm-up gym, and dressing facilities.
- A new £5.4 million Nottingham College facility for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) students has opened.
- The former owner of Old Vol pub expresses his deep sorrow as the confirmation for the beer garden decision arrives.
Among the five courts scheduled to be built, three will be designated as double padel courts, accompanied by two single courts. Additionally, plans include constructing two outdoor padel tennis courts towards the northern part of the facility.
According to planning documents: "The courts feature walls, allowing players to hit the balls against them akin to how they're used in squash games. This planned development aims to provide top-notch facilities for one of the quickest-expanding sports in the UK within an up-to-date setting that complements and elevates the current array of recreational amenities available in this area of Nottingham."
Padel tennis venues accommodate players of various ages and skill levels who wish to play together.
The location will feature 49 car parking spots, comprising five accessible areas and two designated for electric cars, and plans to employ ten team members. Advantage Padel is presently running an establishment in Kingsley, Hampshire, as well as developing three additional sites across South East Hampshire, South Dorset, and London.
In April 2025, the council approved Physique Evolution Limited’s plans to transform the location into a gym, resulting in two sanctioned proposals for the same area. In such cases, the council has stated that "the responsibility falls upon the landlord to resolve tenancy issues between the competing applicants."
Nevertheless, the gym's director confirmed to the Local Democracy Reporting Service in April that the facility would not be relocating to that site.
