Nebraska Lawmakers Stalled on Bill to Update State Minimum Wage

A proposed law that would have altered the legislation regarding the state's lowest pay rate does not progress beyond the final reading stage in the Nebraska Legislature.
LB258 Would have established a lower minimum wage for young workers, imposed a limit on yearly hikes in the minimum wage, and raised the state’s training wage.

Voters in Nebraska approved a ballot measure aimed at raising the minimum wage according to increases in the cost of living.
For now, the bill has stalled for this legislative session, however, lawmakers might invoke suspension of the usual legislative procedures to attempt passing it once more.
Currently, the minimum wage in Nebraska stands at $13.50 per hour. For next year, this rate will be adjusted. set to increase to $15 per hour .
