Medal of Honor Hero Addresses Law Enforcement at Tuscaloosa Luncheon

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC The inaugural police officers' lunch in Tuscaloosa hosted an exceptionally distinguished visitor.

The Vietnam War hero and Medal of Honor recipient Captain Gary Michael Rose discussed his experiences as a medic during the conflict. He particularly addressed themes of honor and sacrifice. Captain Rose informed the crowd that from 1775 onwards, America has mourned the loss of approximately 1.3 million service members who were killed in action.

"They were 1.3 million individuals who had mothers, fathers, uncles, sisters, brothers, wives, spouses, and children. And when that person does not return home, wars do not truly conclude just because the gunfire has ceased. Wars only end once the final living soul capable of recalling those events passes away. Losing someone triggers an overwhelming wave of challenges," Captain Rose stated.

The guests at the luncheon consisted of representatives from various law enforcement organizations across Tuscaloosa County and different areas of western Alabama.

In 2017, President Donald Trump presented Captain Rose with the Medal of Honor for displaying exceptional bravery in Vietnam where he saved multiple lives serving as a Special Forces medic.
