Long before Holt became the anchor of "Nightly News," he was a student at Cordova High School and an intern at KCRA in 1979.

Holt mentioned that Stan Atkinson was one individual who motivated him to pursue his broadcasting career.

When advising up-and-coming broadcasters, one of my initial suggestions is for them to observe television shows, study various presenters, and comprehend what they appreciate about these individuals. Do they admire someone’s tone, tempo, or genuineness? In my case, it was Stan Atkinson who stood out," explained Holt.

In addition to his accomplishments in broadcasting, Holt mentioned that Atkinson possessed qualities which made him an admirable figure.

Holt remarked that this individual represented everything he believed a news anchor ought to stand for. This person possessed a warm demeanor, a straightforward approach, and a wealth of experience, successfully combining these qualities. 'I will miss him,' Holt added.
