India Strikes Back: Pakistan Faces Retaliation Over Kashmir Attack

India launched attacks into Pakistan-held areas early Wednesday as retaliation for a recent attack that killed travelers in India’s control zone last month.

The missile strike resulted in eight adults and one child being killed, with several more individuals injured. as reported by The Associated Press .

In a press statement, the Indian government asserts that it targeted infrastructure utilized by militants, as mentioned within the document: "Terrorist attacks against India have been orchestrated and commanded from these locations."

The U.S. Embassy of India said no Pakistani civilian, economic or military targets were hit, noting India only targeted “known terror camps.”

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a post on the social platform X referred to the strikes as "cowardly assaults" and mentioned that they occurred at "five sites within Pakistan." He also stated that Pakistan "retains the unequivocal right to react forcefully to this unexpected Indian aggression."

Attaullah Tarar, the Pakistani cabinet member responsible for information and broadcasting, claimed the attack was about "unarmed civilians and mosques in Pakistan." He also mentioned that "The Pakistani Armed Forces are providing a decisive retaliation" against the missile strikes.

Authorities from both sides assert that three Indian aircraft and one drone have been brought down; however, this statement remains unverified.

The Pakistan Foreign Affairs Office described the assault as "unprovoked" and emphasized that it was aimed at the "civilian population."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he is monitoring The circumstance "intimately," remaining nearby. President Trump’s comments Earlier today, he expressed hope that the dispute between the two nations will be resolved swiftly.

Rubio stated that he will keep working with both Indian and Pakistani leaders to achieve a peaceful solution.

Tensions escalated between the two nations after a militant assault occurred in the Indian-administered section of the Kashmir region, an area long contested by India and Pakistan. The incident resulted in 26 fatalities. India holds Pakistan responsible for the attack; however, Pakistan rejects this accusation.
