Honolulu Ambulance Out of Commission After Head-On Collision

HONOLULU (KHON2) — On the morning of May 12, a Honolulu EMS ambulance was involved in a frontal crash, resulting in the vehicle being temporarily sidelined.

The ambulance was en route to an emergency call, with lights and sirens on, when the vehicle was struck head-on by a sedan on Waialua Beach Road.

The Waianae home blaze was triggered by an overburdened electrical outlet strip.

As reported by authorities, the 83-year-old operator of the old sedan violated traffic rules by crossing over the double yellow line, resulting in an accident. The driver of the sedan received initial medical attention onsite but refused further transportation to a hospital.

A 50-year-old paramedic suffered slight injuries but refused transportation.

Due to the crash, an additional ambulance was sent out for the initial 911 call.
