Health Department Seeks 63 New Hires to Boost Child Welfare Services

BOISE – The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has started recruiting for 63 new roles designed to boost child welfare outcomes statewide. These jobs, which were greenlit by the Idaho Legislature earlier this year, form part of an extensive initiative to better assist disadvantaged children and their families.

The recruitment drive comes after Gov. Brad Little signed Senate Bill 1208 This includes an investment of $23 million in DHW’s child welfare division, marking the biggest boost in child welfare funding ever seen in Idaho. This financial injection aims to enhance services designed to keep families united and guarantee that children in foster care have access to the necessary support.

This investment is essential for bolstering Idaho’s child welfare system," stated Deputy Director Monty Prow, overseeing the state’s foster care initiatives. "With increased staff, we will be able to better assist families facing crises, improve case management, and supply crucial resources to children in foster care.

These new roles are an integral component of a larger initiative aimed at bolstering assistance for disadvantaged children and families. The newly created positions encompass various duties designed to reinforce all phases of child welfare services and substantially increase preventative measures to ensure children remain protected and nurtured within their own family environments.
