Gas Station Tragedy: APD Investigates Deadly Homicide in Southeast Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A homicide occurred at a southeastern Austin gas station on Thursday resulting in one fatality, according to information from the Austin Police Department provided by Public Information Officer Austin Zarlingan. stated at a press conference .

At approximately 7 p.m., according to Zarling, law enforcement was dispatched to the Shell Gas Station located at 2001 East Riverside Drive due to a report of an active shooting and stabbing incident.

Upon arrival at the location, law enforcement personnel discovered a Hispanic male between the ages of 30 and 40 who had sustained apparent bodily injuries. According to Zarling, the responding officers administered emergency medical assistance until paramedics from Austin-Travis County EMS and firefighters from the Austin Fire Department could take charge of the situation.

According to law enforcement, the individual was declared deceased at 7:21 p.m.

Zarling mentioned that someone of interest was assisting law enforcement officials, and stated there was no danger posed to the general population.

This matter is currently under investigation as Austin's 22nd murder case of 2025 , according to police.
