Former Ballymena Councillor Robin Cherry: A Pillar of the Community

The Ulster Unionist Party has honored former councilor Robin Cherry as "a pillar of the community whose commitment and service have had a enduring influence throughout North Antrim and far beyond."
Mr. Cherry was a member of both Ballymena Borough Council and later Mid and East Antrim Borough Council until his retirement in April 2023.
He acted as the deputy mayor of Ballymena between 2011 and 2012 and previously held the position of president at the Ballymena Chamber of Commerce throughout the pandemic.
The individual served as a farmer and held a position on the board of the Balmoral Show. He received an MBE award for his contributions to agriculture.
The South Antrim MP, Robin Swann, stated that his party member "consistently offered wise and prudent counsel to whoever asked for it."
In his work within the agricultural sector and particularly with the potato industry, he frequently stood out as a pioneer. Many will deeply mourn this respected gentleman who was far ahead of his era.
The mayor of Mid and East Antrim, William McCaughey, stated: "I have been acquainted with Robin for numerous years, both through his capacity as an elected council member and as the president of the Ballymena Chamber of Commerce."
