Derby Seeks Accommodation for 142 Students
A potential new eight-story student housing development may soon accommodate 142 students in Derby. Plans filed with Derby City Council retroactively show that Marble Homes Ltd is building this residence on the location where a previous commuter car park stood on Agard Street.
Marble Homes Ltd already operates several student accommodation properties in locations like Leicestershire. The ground floor of their new development will feature a common area for tenants, a space for machinery and equipment, bicycle parking adjacent to the entrance, along with washing facilities.
The documents indicate that the rooms are considered "a learning module offering both workspace and living quarters," and they will be configured as 142 independent studio apartments. Access to the facility will be via Agard Road, which also includes a limited area for guest parking; however, these accommodations do not plan to provide long-term onsite parking facilities for inhabitants.

The planning approval for the eight-story student housing complex with 142 studio apartments was first obtained in November. Later, in April 2021, modifications were made to alter both the interior design and exterior look of the building.
