Dense Fog This Morning, Giving Way to Afternoon Rain

Good morning from Hastings, Neb.! There's currently a Dense Fog Advisory in place until 10:00 AM Central Daylight Time for parts of central Nebraska and northern Kansas, which includes areas like the Tri-Cities and North Platte. Expect visibility down to about one-quarter mile or even lower during the early part of the day. While patchy fog might persist into the afternoon, expect clusters of light to moderate rain arriving later in the afternoon too. This may lead to some heavier rainfall spots along with occasional rumbling thunder within these zones; however, the general risk of widespread thunderstorms stays minimal today. The incoming rains will start off from the panhandle heading toward an easterly-southeast direction, hitting North Platte between approximately 10:30 and 11:00 am. It'll then proceed further eastward, impacting regions such as the Tri-Cities starting roughly at noon till late tonight. Isolated showers can still occur this evening extending into tomorrow night. Today you’ll notice cooler temps hovering around high fifties to mid-sixties accompanied by relatively gentle breezes blowing at speeds of five to ten miles per hour. As nighttime rolls in, watch out for dropping temperatures dipping below fifty degrees across most locations except southeastern Nebraska where readings might stay closer to the low-fifty mark. We should see gradual warming trends leading up to the upcoming weekend though.
Tomorrow's high temperatures are expected to hit the mid-60s up to low 70s across various areas. There might be glimpses of sunlight during the afternoon, despite persistent clouds throughout much of the region. Tomorrow night may bring brief periods of rain in some spots until drier weather sets in by Friday. On Friday, expect warmer temps ranging from the upper 70s to lower 80s under clear blue skies. The light breeze will make this the most pleasant day ahead. By Saturday, stronger gusts will pick up again as highs stay within the 80-degree range; however, there'll likely be a slim possibility of showers or storms later that day. Summery warmth takes over on Sunday, coinciding nicely with early June, bringing about temperatures between the high 80s and perhaps even touching upon the low 90s.
Temperatures will stay mild on Monday, though a cold front rolling in might trigger scattered thunderstorms overnight towards Tuesday. While this system won't significantly lower our temperature, we can expect readings to hover around the mid-70s to low 80s for the remainder of the week. Additionally, we anticipate staying within an ongoing cycle of wetter conditions, with several opportunities for rain and storms; however, major disruptions seem unlikely.
