Crews fight 2-alarm fire in detached garage, using water from pond

Firefighters in Schenectady tackled a heavily involved fire Monday night, using water from the property's pond.
Fire officials say they were called to 787 Coplon Road shortly before 10 p.m., where they found a detached garage in flames, with the side of the home beginning to burn. They were able to stop the fire from getting to the house.
One difficulty in addressing this situation was the absence of fire hydrants, causing firefighters to utilize water from the homeowner’s pond instead.
At this time, no injuries have been reported and the cause has not been determined.
