Most of the state of California is about to experience its first major heat wave this season, With specialists forecasting that numerous states will experience all-time high temperatures this weekend.
Forecasters predict the sizzling heat will pick up on Friday, as temperatures are likely to climb to 100 degrees in the warmest deserts and valleys this weekend - and even higher in some areas.
The National Weather Service has recently released an amended heat warning. Effective from Friday at 11 a.m. through Saturday at 10 p.m., this warning applies to Northern Trinity, Southern Trinity, Northeastern Mendocino Interior, and both parts of Lake County—Southern Lake County and overall Lake County. According to the NWS, temperatures reaching up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit are anticipated during this period.

Whom is expected to be impacted the most by the heatwave?
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles has stated that California's Central Valley is expected to reach triple-digit temperatures over the weekend, with certain areas potentially surpassing daily record highs.
At the same time, the northern California city of Redding is expected to soar to 109 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday, May 30th. This temperature would match the city’s highest recorded May temperature, established in 2021.
On May 30, Sacramento, the California state capital, might reach temperatures up to 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Additionally, Bakersfield is expected to see heat reaching 106 degrees on Saturday. Cities like Paso Robles, Ojai, Palmdale, and Lancaster are anticipated to face potential record-highs as well.
The Climate Prediction Center forecasts above-average temperatures throughout much of California by Friday, May 30.
The NWS office in Sacramento issued a warning on X regarding the risks associated with the upcoming heat wave.
They stated, "Given the forecasted temperatures significantly higher than average for this week, we anticipate Moderate Heat Risk zones along with regions facing Major Heat Risk conditions. There could be widespread readings reaching up into three digits come Friday, potentially touching near-record or even record-highs. Make sure to practice heat safety measures!"
Sadly, there won't probably be significant Overnight relief as well, says NWS, with minimum temperatures expected to stay above 65 degrees.
