Agriculture Ministry warns farmers of fungal disease risk amid weather conditions
Amman, May 7 (Petra) — On Wednesday, the Ministry of Agriculture warned farmers to be vigilant in the upcoming days because of current weather conditions that could facilitate the proliferation of crop fungi.
The ministry stated in an announcement that the present conditions foster an ideal setting for fungi development, potentially leading to substantial harm to various crops including grapevines, almond trees, olive groves, and citrus plants, along with others.
The ministry urged farmers to implement suitable preventative actions through the use of wide-ranging, agriculture-approved fungicides. They should be applied either early in the morning or late in the evening. Additionally, they emphasized sticking to suggested safety periods and refraining from applying these chemicals during bloom time as a means to safeguard bee populations and maintain environmental equilibrium.
