$2.1M in Illicit Drugs Seized at South Texas Ports by CBP

HIDALGO, Texas ( Border Report )— More than $2.1 million worth of illicit drugs were confiscated during two significant events at South Texas border points recently, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

On Wednesday, over $618,000 worth of cocaine was confiscated at the McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge from a vehicle entering from Mexico, according to CBP officials.

After the vehicle underwent additional examination and non-invasive inspection tools were employed, the medications were seized. CBP says.

In the compact car, authorities discovered 21 parcels containing cocaine with an aggregate weight exceeding 46 pounds, which had been hidden inside the vehicle during scorching weather conditions, according to the agency.

On Tuesday, according to statements made by CBP officers, they discovered $1.7 million worth of methamphetamine within a vehicle that was entering from Camargo, Mexico, at the Rio Grande City International Bridge located in Starr County.

A 26-year-old Mexican woman was behind the wheel when the vehicle she was driving underwent a secondary examination. During this process, law enforcement found 83 parcels containing nearly 200 pounds of narcotics with assistance from dogs and non-invasive detection devices. the agency says .
