Whoopi Goldberg Slammed by Bitter Fox News Host Over IVF Joke

Fox News anchor Julie Banderas stirred controversy Wednesday after making a crude jab at Whoopi Goldberg , dismissively questioning the longtime actress and host’s ability to find someone to “physically impregnate her.”

The comments were made during an episode of Outnumbered, following a segment that criticized the Joe Biden The administration's suggested baby bonus scheme, which offers a $5,000 reward intended to promote increased birth rates. During her appearance on "The View," Goldberg criticized the proposal, stating that it was disconnected from the real lives of women.

I feel deeply offended by this since evidently, they have no understanding of female anatomy," Goldberg stated during Tuesday’s show. "I’m not sure what the purpose of $5,000 is meant to serve.

During the segment on Fox News, they aired the footage and sarcastically commented. "What a delightful individual," remarked Kayleigh McEnany. In response, Banderas added, "Oh, how charming! It's too bad she doesn't have children; I think she could've set an amazing example."

Banderas went even farther with this statement. She said, "I'm grateful she didn't go through with IVF, as I doubt anyone would be willing to physically inseminate her," which was her main point."

While her co-hosts chuckled awkwardly, none corrected the false implication. In reality, Goldberg is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had her daughter, Alexandrea Martin, in 1974, and has since welcomed three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

After backlash online, Banderas attempted to walk back her remarks. “Obviously I’m kidding about Whoopi Goldberg,” she said later in the show. “I think it would be great if she had a child, I would just hope that maybe she would raise her children a little better.”

She admitted that Goldberg indeed has a daughter but commented, "I don't know. We aren't well-informed about who that individual is."

The segment was broadcast during the same week when the White House introduced a contentious new strategy to address declining birthrates. The proposal includes offering financial incentives to new mothers, setting aside 30% of Fulbright scholarships for individuals who are parents or married, and implementing educational programs about menstruation designed to boost understanding of reproductive health.

Former President Donald Trump, who backs the initiative, refers to himself as the "procreation president." Vice President J.D. Vance described the decrease in birth rates as a "crisis of civilization," whereas billionaire Elon Musk, parent to 14 offspring, stated that those without children tend to care less about what happens next.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who has nine children, has suggested prioritizing funding for areas with higher marriage and birth rates.

Critics, including Goldberg, say the plan reduces women to reproductive tools. “We are not machines,” she said. “And $5,000 isn’t going to make someone ready to be a parent.”
