The council has decided to raise the 2025 base salaries by a total of $199,000. This encompasses increases for court reporters, administrators, receptionists, and office managers.

If the county council had rejected the mandate on Wednesday, the dispute would have been escalated to the Indiana Supreme Court for further review.

"If we had brought this case before the Indiana Supreme Court, the expenses would have been enormous. Compared to that, the costs we've faced so far are negligible," stated Thompson.

Proceeding ahead, once the settlement is approved, the upcoming actions for the council involve approving the necessary allocations. This approval will take place during a Vigo County Council meeting scheduled potentially for June.
