Texas State Technical College Gifts Big Donation to Graduates, Fueling Their Career Success

Ten students from Texas State Technical College (TSTC) got a career lift in construction last Thursday due to a $10,000 tool donation from the Texas Builders Foundation, arranged via McCoy’s Building Supply in Waco.

The donation was coordinated by the TSTC Foundation and facilitated through McCoy's Building Supply in Waco. It was presented during a ceremony held at the Industrial Technology Center on the Waco campus .

Each selected student was awarded a yellow bucket with tools valued at more than $500, including chalk lines, circular saws, hard hats, hammers, and wrenches—essential equipment for entering the building construction industry.

Out of the 10 recipients, eight participated in the event. The individuals honored included:

  • Christopher Cardenas of Waco

  • Danny King of Waco

  • Esteban Medina of Milford

  • Cesar Martinez of Waco

  • Preston Montgomery of Valley Mills

  • Teo Orduna of Van Alstyne

  • Jackson Pace of Weatherford

  • Tate Zmolik of Rice

The recipients are candidates for graduation from TSTC’s Building Construction Technology program and plan to use the tools as they begin their professional careers.

The initiative reflects how Central Texas looks to get the upcoming generation ready for the job market .
