Suspect in Orangeburg County Shooting Still At Large

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WRDG/WAGT) -- Authorities are searching for an 18-year-old individual suspected of shooting seven people at a gathering last month, and he remains at large.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff, Leroy Ravenell, stated that they are seeking 18-year-old Sincere Gibbs for an incident involving a shooting that took place during a gathering on March 29 at 1175 Five Chop Road in Orangeburg.

Earlier this month, Deputies stated they were searching for Gibbs. .

Seven people at the gathering were injured due to the shooting, with several more being crushed during the ensuing panic.

The warrants for Gibbs encompass seven charges of attempted murder, three allegations of inciting a riot using a weapon, one charge of carrying a firearm during a criminal offense, and one count of felony disturbing the peace.

The court documents indicate that Gibbs was released on bail due to pending charges in Sumter County and had been monitored via an ankle bracelet up until the point where Orangeburg County detectives claim he removed his monitoring device two weeks before the incident in March.

The sheriff’s department states that Gibbs remains classified as both armed and dangerous.

The incident is now garnering the attention and worry of Solicitor Chip Finney from Sumter County.

“We have been inundated with this kind of stuff,” said Finney. “Every solicitor I know has their hands full trying to keep the community safe from people who have violated the terms of their bonds. We’ve got way too much violence going on in the community.”

The search continues, and Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell has a simple message for anyone helping Gibbs hide.

“We want to warn anybody that’s trying to hide him out. If you do, and we find out. You’re going to be in the next cell beside him,” said Ravenell.

The sheriff’s office says it believes Gibbs came to Orangeburg for trouble. They say details on who he was targeting are limited, but say it does not believe his targets were the seven people who were shot and trampled.

People who have details about Gibbs' whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Orangeburg County Communications Center at 803-534-3550.
