Scholar Success Shines: Sames Graduates Celebrate Student Achievements

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A special event was held at Texas A&M International University on Wednesday, April 23, to honor the achievements of graduating students.

The Sames Scholars program enabled many of them to pursue higher education, with this event underscoring the initiative’s dedication to supporting first-gen and at-promise students in reaching their full academic capabilities.

As stated by Elizabeth Sames, co-founder of the Sames Scholars program, "The focus is on providing support since these kids represent the first generation in their families to go to college. From start to finish during high school, we provide mentorship, and even after enrolling at TAMIU, participants continue receiving continuous backing from our initiative."

The initiative has assisted students in pursuing their educational journeys since the year 2001.
