Rollins Predicts Imminent Drop in Egg Prices

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins stated that a decrease in egg prices has already affected certain regions of the country, while for others, it is "on its way" shortly.

On Sunday, Rollins appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union,” where she emphasized a key economic factor: egg prices.

In March, egg prices reached an all-time high of $6.23 per dozen, even with the Trump administration’s efforts. expressions of optimism that we could expect prices to drop with President Trump’s leadership.

"When the President took office, the cost of eggs had risen by 237 percent during the previous administration," Rollins stated.

"When examining the wholesale price of eggs — which influences the retail pricing — we can expect the retail cost to catch up shortly; however, over the past six weeks, the actual wholesale cost of eggs has decreased by 58 percent," she explained subsequently.

Across certain regions, there has been a notable decrease in the retail price, as per her statement.

"Some regions haven't adopted it yet, but they will," Rollins noted additionally.

Multiple times, the president has pointed out that upon assuming his role in January, egg prices were "skyrocketing." He has asserted that currently, those prices have decreased significantly.

As Rollins pointed out on CNN, the Agriculture Department indicated that wholesale egg prices decreased in March; however, retail prices have not fully aligned with this change.

Prices increased this year as outbreaks of bird flu compelled farmers to cull millions of chickens to prevent the virus from spreading.

In February, Rollins provided an outline of “five pronged strategy” To reduce egg prices, partly by reallocating some of the department’s funds to seek a long-term solution for avian influenza.

In late March, Rollins stated that the administration was importing millions of eggs imported from Turkey and South Korea to help reduce prices in the U.S.
