'Rebuilding Together: 'Greater Harrisburg' Volunteers Transform Homes for Families in Need'

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Multiple houses in Harrisburg received repairs and modifications today to benefit those in need of assistance.

"Rebuilding Together Greater Harrisburg," a nonprofit organization, mobilized more than 125 volunteers for various home improvement tasks such as constructing ramps, painting interiors, and doing extra landscaping. The team also addressed critical repairs like fixing plumbing and electrical problems and fitted new smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. This initiative aims to support seniors, military veterans, individuals with disabilities, and struggling families.

"We assist individuals who typically cannot afford these repairs on their own. Our aim is to ensure that people remain in their homes safely, comfortably, and free from moisture," explained Barbara Whitehead, a co-captain for the non-profit organization.

"Rebuilding Together" has existed for more than three decades.
