NJ High School Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sharing Explicit Photos With Student
A 53-year-old high school instructor from Springfield acknowledged having child pornographic material following communication with a minor on Wednesday, April 23, according to officials.
From February 2023 through July 2023, Michael Hamilton, serving as the band director at Union High School, started communicating with a minor over the internet, according to the Justice Department. The department stated that Hamilton and this minor traded an extensive number of sexually graphic texts, images, and video content.
According to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, Hamilton subsequently encountered the teenager and documented their sexual interaction on videotape. Authorities confiscated a duplicate of this footage when they searched his residence in October 2023.
When Hamilton is sentenced in September, he will face a minimum jail term of 15 years, according to Habba.
