Even though he had a strong beginning to the season, Onana has found it difficult to keep up this performance throughout. A series of errors has put his prospects with Manchester United in jeopardy.
Originally brought in during 2023 as an improvement over David de Gea, the reality remains that Over the last couple of years, Onana hasn’t demonstrated much evidence indicating he’s truly a superior choice for Manchester United compared to the Spanish goalkeeper. De Gea has successfully rejuvenated his career with Fiorentina following a period without club affiliation.
Because of his mistakes, Onana is believed to have lost favor with head coach Ruben Amorim; however, financially constrained Manchester United would rather avoid entering the transfer market for a goalkeeper since they have more urgent needs to address.

Could Onana ignite a transfer war?
Indeed, according to TEAMtalk Amorim is at loggerheads with members of the Manchester United leadership due to his position that Onana should be substituted this summer.
The Cameroonian player still boasts 'fans' at Manchester United who think he can bounce back from his initial two challenging seasons and eventually meet the high hopes pinned on him moving forward.

Manchester United’s position as the summer approaches is straightforward: Should an attractive proposal arise for Onana, who has attracted interest from teams in Saudi Arabia, they would be open to letting him go. However, they won’t aggressively seek to push for his exit, given that they invested over €50 million on him in 2023.
Regarding Amorim, he would rather have an upgraded option, however, Manchester United’s current financial state complicates things. With the club likely to spend over €100 million on offensive additions alone, funds for acquiring a new goalkeeper will be quite limited.
