Man Faces Manslaughter Charges After Crashing Into SUV at 108 MPH, Killing 71-Year-Old Woman

A man from San Antonio is now charged with manslaughter after prosecutors allege he was speeding at over twice the legal limit when his vehicle crashed into an SUV. killing a 71-year-old woman.
ORIGINAL STORY: A 71-year-old woman died in a rollover accident on the far west side, according to the BCSO.
The fatal accident occurred at approximately 12:23 p.m. on Wednesday within the 11000 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies went to the site where two vehicles collided; this accident included a white Ford Mustang and an SUV.
Based on an arrest warrant, 20-year-old Richard Aron Gonzales was operating the Mustang and allegedly speeding dangerously fast.
According to law enforcement records, witness accounts, business security footage, and items retrieved from the accident location all indicated that Gonzales was exceeding the speed limit just prior to the collision.
According to investigators, Gonzales was heading westward at a speed exceeding 100 mph when his vehicle collided with the driver's side of an SUV operated by 71-year-old Patricia Browning.
The collision made Browning's car tumble and whirl out of control.
According to an arrest report, witnesses stated they saw the Mustang racing along Highway 151 before continuing onto Alamo Ranch Parkway just prior to the accident.
When investigators inspected the Mustang, they found that the speedometer needle was stuck at 100 mph.
A search warrant was issued for the car’s airbag control unit and its onboard data system called Berla. The information retrieved showed that Gonzales was traveling at 108 mph in an area with a speed limit of 45 mph when the collision occurred.
Browning was hurriedly taken to the hospital, yet sadly passed away less than 60 minutes thereafter due to her wounds.
Gonzales suffered serious injuries in the crash and remains hospitalized. BCSO officials say once he is released from the hospital, he will be booked on a manslaughter charge.
