Lougee & Frederick's Florist Celebrates New Location with Ribbon Cutting

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) -- An institution within the Bangor community for the past 65 years now has a new location.

On Friday, Lougee and Frederick’s Florist held the opening ceremony at their new spot in the Penobscot Plaza on Washington Street.

It’s a substantial upgrade In terms of space, the florist is transitioning from a 958-square-foot store to one that spans 18,000 square feet.

The store boasts three certified AIFD floral designers who have the expertise to instruct customers at various levels of floral design.

Customers can create their own bouquets using the walk-in cooler available.

We discussed with the proprietor of the store what it signifies to now operate from their new location.

"It feels as though we've run a marathon over the past three weeks with all the effort put into moving from State Street to settling down at Washington Street. Taking over for Bill Sheehan has been quite an undertaking. Over the last one and a half years, this journey has been incredibly fulfilling. I have gained valuable experience and witnessed many things. It hasn’t always been easy; there were moments of joy mixed with some tears," shared Rhoda Burke.

The newly acquired residence is situated at 21 Washington Street.

They operate from 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and from 8 AM to 12 PM on Saturdays.
