Lake City Man Arrested in April Murder Case on Cypress Avenue, Charged with Multiple Counts

A 27-year-old from Lake City was arrested Thursday and faces a murder charge for his involvement in a murder on Cypress Avenue in early April.

Dontray Dale Eaddy Wright faces charges including weapons possession during a violent felony and murder, as stated in a report from the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office.

The accusations arise from an event on April 13 when officials were called to investigate gunshots reported on Cypress Avenue. They discovered someone in the street who had apparent bullet wounds. The injured person was rushed to a hospital but ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

Investigators, piecing together the case, claim that the victim was standing outside of an establishment in the area when Wright shot at them. Details of the incident are still under investigation by the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office.

Wright was apprehended by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Florence County Sheriff's Office, and the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office. He is presently detained at the Williamsburg County Detention Center.
