Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem opened up regarding the stolen handbag , which held $3,000 in cash, as she dined with her family at a Washington, D.C., eatery over the weekend.
In an Interview with the "VINCE" Show Released on Wednesday, Nome stated that she still hasn't retrieved the bag, calling the incident "shocking."
Noem stated that the theft was "carried out professionally," verifying that the individual who took her bag was donning a medical mask.
He used his foot to hook [the purse], dragged it a few paces away, covered it with a coat, and carried it off," Noem recounted to host Vince Coglianese. "I could feel it happening, but I assumed it was just my grandchildren nudging me in the shins.
The man dressed in dark attire positioned himself at a close-by table at Capital Burger in downtown Washington, sitting with his back toward Noem, who was dining with relatives. He later used his foot to slide over and take the bag containing her belongings. CNN reported , as reported by sources who reviewed the security camera recordings of the event. After rising from the table, Noem realized her purse had vanished, the channel stated.
When asked whether she believed she was singled out due to her position in the administration, Noem stated that she was uncertain.
I’m not sure. An investigation is currently underway," she stated. "I was a bustling grandmother juggling four children and four grandchildren all under four years old. My days were filled with caring for them, preparing meals, and savoring time with my loved ones, though my bag never once touched my shoes.
"That's how susceptible individuals can be," she noted.
In addition to the substantial sum of money, her handbag also contained her governmental ID, passport, driving license, cheque book, cosmetics, and medications.
Although Noem didn't explain in the interview the reason for having $3,000 in cash, a representative from the Department of Homeland Security informed The News Pulse earlier that it was intended "to treat her family to meals, outings, and Easter presents."
U.S. Secret Service agents were with Noem during the incident, as reported by several sources. news reports , sparking queries about how the individual managed to execute the robbery.
