KCAL News Shakes Up Newscast with Anchor Changes

Exciting alterations are taking place during the morning and evening broadcasts on KCAL News.

The news outlet declared that the anchorman Rudabeh Shahbazi is shifting to co-anchors the weeknight evening news broadcasts along with the renowned broadcaster Pat Harvey.

To fill Shahbazi's seat, Sheba Turk is being elevated to weekday morning anchor for the KCAL News Mornings program alongside co-anchor Jamie Yuccas.

The modification will come into effect on April 28.

It’s an immensely thrilling period for CBS Los Angeles and our audience," stated Tim Wieland, the regional president and general manager of CBS Los Angeles as well as CBS Colorado. "We aim to keep providing top-notch local journalism, and bolstering our programming with two anchors who not only excel at storytelling but also actively participate within their communities helps us achieve this objective.

Shahbazi is set to join the evening news broadcast, infusing it with her dynamic presence, extensive journalism experience, and deep ties to Southern California audiences. A recipient of four Emmy awards, she will share anchoring duties with Harvey for the 5 p.m., 9 p.m., and 11 p.m. broadcasts.

I am thrilled to return to my journalistic origins with the nightly news and have the opportunity to co-anchor alongside the esteemed Pat Harvey in the city I adore," Shahbazi stated. "The prospect of facing new adventures and hurdles fills me with immense excitement!

She said that although she will miss the extraordinary morning team dearly, they are in great hands with Turk. Shahbazi described her as someone who brings positive energy to everything she does.

Turk is recognized for her strong dedication to community narratives and energetic demeanor. She will be part of the station's popular eight-hour early-morning segment, featuring the CBS News Los Angeles streaming channel from 7 to 10 a.m.

“I’ve truly enjoyed being part of the morning team over the last two years,” Turk stated. “It’s been incredible to witness what our team has created, and I’m excited about jumping into my new position—sharing compelling tales and producing an entertaining program for our audience.”
