'Jobs Boom' Funds Flow to Colleges

While legislators consider allocating additional funds to Florida’s Job Growth Grant Fund, Governor Ron DeSantis was present in Fort Pierce on Wednesday to unveil grants for initiatives at two educational institutions.

DeSantis mentioned that the fund will allocate $4 million for advanced manufacturing courses at Indian River State College and $4.9 million for an aircraft mechanic training program at Miami Dade College.

The draft budget presented by the Senate for the fiscal years 2025-2026 contains $25 million allocated to this fund. The governor has the authority to utilize these funds as he sees fit for either local infrastructure projects or workforce development programs.

The draft of the House budget does not allocate funds for the program.

The Senate and House need to work out a final budget for the fiscal year set to begin on July 1.
