Jalen Milroe's Top 5 Epic Moments in Alabama Football History

The word "rollercoaster" is frequently used in sports, yet it aptly describes the situation. quarterback Jalen Milroe And the career he built with Alabama football prior to being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks. The third phase of the NFL Draft.
He never lost to Auburn, Georgia or LSU. Meanwhile, he fell twice to Michigan, once to Vanderbilt and once to Oklahoma, A match that the Crimson Tide shouldn’t have dropped.
In his debut as a starting quarterback, Milroe experienced significant ups and downs. During the match against Texas A&M in 2022, he made several turnovers, yet he still managed to throw for three touchdowns and guide the Crimson Tide to triumph while stepping in for Bryce Young.
That first game captured the Milroe experience to come. He was as exciting of a football player as you could find in the college game the past two seasons, but he too often lacked consistency from game to game.
Milroe is made for highlight reels, though. That’s why he put together some iconic moments and games during his time as a starting quarterback, first for Nick Saban and then for Kalen DeBoer.
Here are Milroe’s top five standout moments from 2022 through 2024.
5. At Arkansas, 2022
Young was sidelined, leaving the backup quarterback with the task of securing the victory. And Milroe delivered.
However, this caused considerable anxiety among the Alabama supporters. After Milroe extended Alabama’s advantage to 28-0 during the second quarter with both a touchdown run and a passing TD to JoJo Earle, Arkansas mounted an impressive comeback. They managed to rack up 23 consecutive points as they entered the final period. This narrowed Alabama’s lead dramatically to just 28-23 within the lively atmosphere of Fayetteville Stadium.
On third down with 15 yards needed, Milroe spotted an opening and seized the opportunity. He sprinted for 77 yards, reaching the Arkansas 3-yard line. Shortly after, running back Jase McClellan scored a touchdown with a powerful run. The final score had Alabama victorious at 49-26.
Milroe activated the jets and made his presence known to the football world for the first time that day.
4. LSU, in 2023 and 2024
OK, this is cheating a little bit, but we couldn’t decide between which of the LSU games to include on the list. Milroe dominated in both games, like he hit copy and paste.
The first, Milroe ran for four touchdowns in 2023 at Bryant-Denny Stadium with 20 carries for 155 yards. He also completed 15 of 23 passes for 219 yards. Alabama won that night 42-28.
Fast-forward to 2024, when the Crimson Tide went to Baton Rouge to take on the Tigers in a crucial game necessary for their chances of making it into the College Football Playoff. Milroe excelled once more, amassing 185 yards and scoring four touchdowns on just 12 attempts. The final score was Alabama 42, LSU 13.
Probably no one is as delighted as LSU to see Milroe move on to the NFL.
3. SEC Championship Game in 2023
Georgia hadn't lost a match in two campaigns.
It had been since the 2021 SEC Championship Game that the Bulldogs last experienced defeat. During this period, they secured two national titles. Now once more holding the top ranking nationally, Georgia aimed for their third consecutive national championship.
However, Milroe and Alabama were obstacles.
Milroe completed 13 of 23 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers as the Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs 27-24 to win the SEC Championship Game.
In the process, Alabama snapped Georgia’s 29-game winning streak and kept the Bulldogs out of the College Football Playoff. Milroe and company ensured there would be no three-peat.
2. Georgia 2024
Indeed, this was merely a standard season match. Moreover, it held far less importance than the 2023 SEC championship game. Nonetheless, this particular contest earns a superior placement due to two factors.
- Jalen Milroe could very well have had the finest performance of his career.
- The victory conveyed to everyone that Alabama football was here to stay, irrespective of Nick Saban’s presence.
Milroe successfully completed 27 out of 33 pass attempts, accumulating 374 yards with two touchdown passes. Additionally, he rushed 16 times for 117 yards and added another two scores. During the first half, he delivered one of his finest throws ever, connecting with running back Jam Miller for a touchdown. Later in the second half, Milroe launched a long pass to Ryan Williams covering 75 yards, helping fend off Georgia’s effort to stage a come-from-behind victory.
This game would be remembered as Milroe’s defining moment unless overshadowed by his heroic act another night on the Plains.
1. Fourth-and-31
Alabama’s grave had been dug. Then Milroe pulled the Crimson Tide out of that grave.
It appeared all hopes were dashed as Alabama fell behind Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium, trailing by four points with less than a minute remaining. Milroe and the Crimson Tide had just one chance left, facing a fourth-down situation needing 31 yards.
Easy enough, right?
Milroe made it appear so. He leaned back and spotted Isaiah Bond at the edge of the end zone, scoring the winning touchdown. The game ended with Alabama victorious at 27-24.
The legendary play will always be remembered in Iron Bowl history and should sit at the top of Milroe’s notable moments wearing the crimson and white.
