Is Maeve Hiding Deeper Secrets From Conrad in MobLand? Discover Why Her Actions Raise Suspicion

Guy Ritchie's MobLand tracks the rivalry between two criminal clans, the Harrigans and the Stevensons, as tensions flare up following Eddie Harrigan’s murder of Tommy Stevenson, who happens to be Richie Stevenson's offspring and also the grandson of Conrad Harrigan.

As tensions escalate between the two clans, Harry Da Souza, employed as a troubleshooter for the Harrigan family, becomes ensnared in mounting danger when threatening incidents start targeting his kinfolk too.

Throughout these events, Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and Eddie’s grandmother, consistently stokes the flames of an already volatile conflict. Although Conrad leads the Harrigan dynasty, it is Maeve who operates covertly from backstage, significantly shaping his choices—even those involving murder.

With the already aired four episodes Maeve’s demeanor is growing more ominous, and it wouldn’t be shocking if viewers begin questioning whether she truly wishes Conrad well or if she harbors ulterior motives of her own that she aims to achieve through Eddie.

The first time Maeve has significant sway over Conrad It became clear during the incident where she took charge concerning the assassination of Richie Stevenson. Even though Richie was within range, Maeve requested Conrad to cancel the operation, mentioning it would be expected for him to be there when Richie met his end.

Following this, Maeve forced Conrad to assassinate Archie, his long-time associate and collaborator, due merely to her suspicion of him betraying Conrad. Clearly, Conrad found it difficult to shoot Archie and showed obvious signs of anguish afterward. The rationale behind Maeve’s decision to eliminate Archie seemed rather flimsy as well. With the discovery of Archie's remains known to law enforcement, it has become apparent that there might be an informant originating from inside the Harrigan clan.

Nevertheless, Maeve appears unperturbed by the repercussions of her deeds. Even though every member of her clan denounces Eddie for murdering Tommy—thus setting the stage for inevitable conflict—Maeve adopts a completely different stance. She informs Eddie that he made the correct choice and asserts that he embodies what it means to be a Harrigan. Furthermore, she comments that his grandfather has grown soft and argues that they require someone as fearless and harsh as Eddie to maintain the Harrigans' dominance. This reveals Maeve’s craving for authority and her readiness to exploit the less astute Eddie for her selfish ends.

While Conrad and Maeve has been portrayed as an influential pair, with Conrad struggling to dismiss Maeve’s statements, even though her behaviors are raising concerns. They have been companions ever since Maeve was 16, carrying his child at such a young age. Despite sharing numerous years side by side, Conrad engaged in several extramarital relationships; one resulted in a daughter named Seraphina, who understandably faces disdain from Maeve.

Furthermore, Conrad had an affair with Bella Harrigan, and upon discovering this, Maeve met Kevin Harrigan, their offspring, who later wedded Bella. Enduring marriage to someone as complex as Conrad has undoubtedly caused Maeve considerable pain due to his behavior. If she decides to use manipulation to achieve her goals with him, it wouldn’t come as a surprise.

In the most recent episode, Maeve made an effort to sow doubts about Harry into Conrad’s thoughts, which Conrad strongly opposed. Nevertheless, Maeve persisted and unwarranted instigated friction between Harry and Conrad despite Harry having always remained faithful to the Harrigan family, often at great personal cost to himself and his kin.

These questionable actions by Maeve suggest an unresolved resentment within her, possibly aimed at getting back at Conrad for reasons unknown. By goading him into harming those he both respects and values, she may be seeking vengeance. Should she manage to control Conrad’s decisions and ultimately seat Eddie on the throne, she could end up wielding power over the entire empire. It raises questions about whether controlling the realm is her true desire.
